As a highly respected senior living community in Verona, Noel Manor Retirement Living knows what many of our residents enjoy. When it comes to classic TV shows, there are several that truly stand out from the pack.
In our last blog, we discussed three of the most popular sitcoms from the 1950s and 1960s, I Love Lucy, Leave it to Beaver, and Gilligan’s Island. We also listed which streaming platforms feature these hit TV shows so that they are easy to find for residents at our retirement living community in Verona.
Today we’ll feature three more classics that many of our residents enjoy. Many individuals who now live in senior housing in Verona can take a trip down memory lane when they watch these all-time classics.
“M*A*S*H” an All-time Classic at Our Senior Living Community in Verona (1972-1983)
This one-of-a-kind series helped many viewers understand some of the sights and behind-the-scenes duties of medical personnel during times of war. Although this series may have shown some “political incorrectness” by today’s standards, it is still widely viewed by many individuals who grew up watching the series, including residents at our senior living community in Verona. M*A*S*H is known as one of the longest-running series in television history. Its final episode drew a record 105.9 million viewers to cap off a historic run of 12 years on primetime TV.
You can find M*A*S*H on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play, Hulu, YouTube TV, or on DVD.
Live Life Like “The Golden Girls” (1985-1992)
This hilarious show about four women in their “Golden Years” proved to be a hit with many people. Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, Estelle Getty, and Betty White all enjoy living together in Florida, but also had a knack for driving each other crazy. With constant wisecracks and insults towards one another, this is truly a great portrayal of how friends and family all love each other but can also drive each other crazy. In fact, if you choose to live at our senior housing in Verona, you may find your own group of Golden Girls!
The Golden Girls can be found on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play, Hulu, Vudu, or on DVD.
Say “Cheers” to This Great Sitcom (1982-1993)
In its early days, Cheers struggled to get rankings from viewers nationally, but NBC decided to stick with this Boston-based sitcom; boy, did that pay off. For 11 years Cheers made us laugh thanks to stars like Ted Danson, Woody Harrelson, George Wendt, Rhea Perlman, and many others. Their banter and friendship became a hit with numerous viewers, especially those who had their own “bar friends.” If you are a resident at an independent living community in Verona and want to revisit some classic 80s and 90s comedy, Cheers is a great place to start.
Cheers is available on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Hulu, Peacock, and on DVD.
